San-San finished up in Minnesota, moved out and into her Huntington, WV lodgings all in one weekend. She now only has 2 weeks left in at her Huntington VA Hospital rotation, and then she comes back to Columbus for graduation. Yes, her optometry schooling is almost over.
I have been busy with work, working on many projects for many airports. Things have slowed down slightly this year, but there is still plenty of work and I have more work than I can do right now.
Other than that we have been counting the weeks until San-San is back in Columbus and done being on the road away. She has come home on the weekends but it does not allow much time to do anything exciting.
Over Memorial Day weekend, we decided that a 4 day weekend in Huntington would be fun. San-San did lots of research and planned some good places to eat and visit and everything went great. The real fun of the weekend was my birthday present San-San had found and planned for us to do. On Monday we went whitewater rafting on the New River about 2 hours from Huntington.

Not a picture of us, but an idea of what we were doing. We were 9 people in a boat 4 people on each side and a guide in the back all with paddles, life jackets and helmets. I think we hit rapids from Class 3 to Class 5. Class six is the hardcore professionals only type stuff, so we were doing a little hard stuff but not too crazy. The real danger is if you don't listen to your guide and paddle when you were supposed to etc. They always put the boat in the right spot (if you listened) and we never even really came close to flipping over. The group which left earlier in the morning had multiple boats flip in rapids. I am glad we didn't have to deal with that. I did get knocked out of the boat 2 times and it would have been bad had we all fallen out. Both times I was knocked out by strong waves which flipped me over the sides. There really isn't much to hold onto, you just brace yourself in with your feet and lean to the correct side when told to.
We both had a blast, but were bruised and sore the next morning.
